FDSA (Federation of Direct Selling Association) is
formed with an aim to provide stability and organize the Direct Selling industry
in India. The necessity for such an action is felt as the ponzi schemes / money
circulation schemes that were on the rise had started eroding the distinguishing
line between direct selling and money circulation schemes. The awareness with regard
to the direct selling industry is very little and very often a direct selling company
is mistaken for a money circulation scheme both by the media as well as the concerned
authorities.
Of late, it is observed several genuine direct selling companies were attacked by
the concerned authorities and labeled them as cheats / frauds. This is a very pathetic
situation. The authorities seem to function with a closed mind, in spite of the
Union Government clarifying that direct selling / direct marketing are only marketing
companies and do not fall under the Prize Chits and Money Circulation (Banning)
1978 act. However, the harassment continues as the authorities do not even try to
understand what exactly direct selling is all about.
FDSA is formed not only with an intention to bring
about awareness on what direct selling is all about but also to protect it from
various quarters. The FDSA would work towards
achieving the objective of bringing direct selling into acceptance by the media,
the authorities and as well as the general public.
